Ag Trade Caucus looks to spark trade momentum

Leaders of the Congressional Ag Trade Caucus are encouraging the Biden administration to be more aggressive on trade.

South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson tells Brownfield all 50 states have something to gain from increased ag trade.

“And right now I think we’ve got an administration whose ag agenda is a little listless. So I think this bipartisan effort is going to give us an opportunity to build some momentum.”

Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith says the Caucus being bipartisan is important.

“We’ve got great interest from across the country on both sides of the aisle, and when you look at how bipartisan trade has become I think that is important to note.”

Smith and Johnson, both Republicans, formed the Ag Trade Caucus with California Democrats Jim Costa and Jimmy Panetta.

Costa says he’s looking forward to working together to promote trade policies that will ensure American farmers remain competitive on the global stage.
