Doud, McKinney: Trump has farmers backs

Lost markets, low commodity prices and concerns about long
term trading partnerships were the focus of a House Agriculture subcommittee
hearing this morning.

Chairman Jim Costa of California asked the USTR’s Chief Ag
Negotiator and the USDA’s Trade Undersecretary about whether the White House
has farmers backs, “Do you feel that our agriculture interests are being well
represented as these negotiations are taking place in the West Wing?”

Ag Negotiator Gregg Doud responded, “Absolutely. There is absolutely
no question about it.”

Under Secretary Ted McKinney said, “And I think we can see this with many tweets. We can see this in his statements, in his actions. Now, how we’re going about it clearly is an issue because we’re in choppy waters. But if you’re asking the question, does the White House have our back? The answer is ‘yes.’ Costa replied, “All right.”

Both Doud and McKinney agree that having Congress ratify the
USMCA is the TOP priority.
