Placements up 2%, on Feed up 1% in latest report

The USDA says cattle placements onto feed during February
were 2 percent higher than a year ago at just over 1.8 million head. 

Most of the cattle placed weighed between 600 to 900 pounds
and will be marketed later this fall. 

Total marketings of fed cattle during February were slightly
above year ago levels at 1.68 million head. 
Other disappearances totaled 66,000 head, a 16 percent increase over a
year ago.

The total Cattle on Feed for March 1 was 11.8 million head,
up 1 percent on the year.  The
numbers are generally neutral to a little bearish for futures prices.
