Senate passes nearly $2 trillion Economic Stimulus Package

The senate has passed the nearly $2 trillion Economic Stimulus Package on a 96-0 vote.

The package hit a hurdle today when senators Lindsey Graham,
Tim Scott, Ben Sasse, and Rick Scott said a “drafting error” in the bill would incentivize
companies to lay off workers and incentivize employees to remain unemployed because
they could potentially make more money on unemployment.

The senate didn’t adopt an amendment by Nebraska Senator
Sasse to change the unemployment insurance provision by a vote of 48-48.

The package now heads to the house.
